Yellowhead Helicopters is seeking a highly organized, aviation-savvy individual to join our operations team as Chief Pilot Assistanta key role at the heart of our flight operations.

This is far more than a desk job. As the Chief Pilot’s right hand, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our pilots flying safely, efficiently, and in full regulatory compliance. From coordinating and supporting pilot training programs to maintaining flight manuals and collaborating across departments, you’ll be involved in nearly every aspect of helicopter flight operations.

Here’s what makes this opportunity even more exciting: our current Chief Pilot Assistant will be relocating later this year and is available to provide comprehensive, hands-on training. You’ll have the rare chance to learn directly from someone with in-depth experience in the role, ensuring a seamless transition and a confident, well-supported start.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Pilot in daily operations of the Flight Training department
  • Assist with pilot scheduling, training records, qualifications tracking, onboarding and regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate pilot training logistics, check rides, and recurrent courses
  • Prepare and submit documentation for client approvals (CARs, BARS, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate, compliant records per Transport Canada and company policy.
  • Provide operational support to the Director of Operations during non-training periods.
  • Help update SOPs, operations manuals, rotorcraft manuals, and training materials.
  • Assist with the organization and filing of training records for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.
  • Liaise between departments including HR, Maintenance, Safety, and Client Services.
  • Support seasonal and project ramp-ups with planning and coordination.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A background in aviation or flight operations (pilot license or dispatch experience is a plus)
  • Excellent organizational skills, clear communication, and a solution-focused mindset.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), BARS standards, and aviation best practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and aviation platforms (Cirro and DATS ect).
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of discretion when handling safety-sensitive or confidential information.
  • A proactive team player who thrives on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain productivity in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills with a proven ability to navigate challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Comfortable adapting to last-minute changes, shifting priorities, and evolving operational requirements.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
