OPERATIONS STORES MANAGER ASSISTANT

Job Position Summary

This is a full-time, permanent job position based at YHL’s Prince George base, reporting to the Operations Stores Manager. The Operations Stores Manager Assistant supports the servicing, maintenance, and operation of YHL’s ground equipment, fuel systems, and fleet vehicles, both in the shop and in the field.

This position is well suited to a mechanically-minded individual with a background in heavy equipment, automotive, construction, or a related trade. Direct ops-stores or aviation experience is not required — structured on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced staff are provided.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate, repair, and service YHL operations equipment to current industry and company standards
• Operate and maintain shop tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner
• Maintain, service, and operate fuel tanks, trailers, trucks, and fly tanks, onsite or in the field as required
• Service and carry out minor repairs to YHL fleet vehicles, operating in a safe manner
• Maintain a clean and organized work space in and around Ops Stores
• Help train and supervise new and existing employees while servicing ops equipment, fueling equipment, and fleet vehicles to ensure work meets YHL’s quality and safety standards
• Prepare, organize, and record aircraft ops gear when departing and arriving from ops stores for field operations
• Train and evaluate YHL employees on forklift operation, trailer towing, fuel trucks, and fuel tankers
• Order and pick up parts and shop supplies required for maintaining YHL equipment and aircraft
• Review work orders and YHL operational gear database entries to ensure servicing is being recorded and procedures are being followed
• Support and uphold the professional image of the company by keeping helicopters, equipment, and company vehicles clean and presentable
• Other duties as assigned, including occasional evening and weekend work

Job Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions
• Comfortable working with tools, mechanical equipment, and hands-on physical work
• Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow procedures
• Ability to work independently, take direction, and function as part of a small team
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as operational needs require
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

Experience in any of the following is considered a strong asset; the remaining skills are trainable on the job:

• Heavy duty mechanic, automotive technician, or industrial millwright background
• Construction, industrial maintenance, or manufacturing experience
• Small engine repair
• Carpentry or general trades experience
• Fuel systems knowledge (fuel trucks, tanks, or bulk fuel handling)
• Crane and rigging experience

Hours & Compensation

Wage: $31-$38 based on experience
