At Yellowhead Helicopters, reliability isn’t something we hope for—it’s something we build. That philosophy is at the heart of our ongoing Bell 212 refurbishment program, a multi‑year commitment to renewing one of the most trusted aircraft in our fleet.
Rather than retiring these proven machines, we’ve chosen to take them back to their foundation and rebuild them with the same care and precision they had when they first entered service.
The skilled teams at Alpine Aerotech in Kelowna, BC is our preferred Bell Customer Service Facility to complete these massive projects. Each refurbishment begins with a completely stripped airframe. All paint is removed, exposing the structure beneath and allowing our maintenance team to carry out detailed inspections.
Every structural component is carefully examined for cracks, de‑laminations, or signs of fatigue. Any part that does not meet our standards is repaired or replaced—no exceptions. This process ensures structural integrity and long‑term durability well into the aircraft’s next chapter of service.
From there, the aircraft’s wiring is completely removed and replaced with an entirely new wiring harness. This modernization improves reliability, reduces future troubleshooting, and aligns the aircraft with today’s operational demands.
Once inspections and installations are complete, the helicopter receives fresh paint before the drivetrain is installed. The result is not just a refurbished aircraft—but one that is effectively reborn.
Each aircraft reflects lessons learned and refinements made along the way, strengthening the program with every build.

The Bell 212 has earned its reputation as a dependable and capable platform across demanding environments. By investing in refurbishment instead of replacement, we’re ensuring our crews and customers continue to benefit from an aircraft they trust—enhanced with modern systems and renewed structural integrity.
This program is more than maintenance. It’s a statement about how seriously we take safety, performance, and responsibility to our clients.
With our third Bell 212 currently in progress, we’re proud to continue strengthening our fleet one aircraft at a time. These helicopters are built to work—and we’re committed to making sure they’re ready for every mission ahead.
